Thompson elected to chair Sports & Events Committee

The Greater Chattanooga Sports and Events Committee Board of Directors has elected Rick Thompson as the new chairman for a one-year term, 2010-11.  Thompson is the President and founding principal of Artech. He has been on the board of directors since 2003 and his current two-year term will end in 2012.
 
The Greater Chattanooga Sports & Events Committee is a not-for-profit amateur sports advocacy organization that promotes economic development in the greater Chattanooga area by identifying, pursuing, and facilitating athletic events and meetings.

“It is an honor to serve with a Board of Directors and Executive Committee that are accomplished in personal, professional and athletic realms. They all see the big picture and with their collective capacity, we have a bright future for bringing in new sporting events. It’s great to live in a community where so many dedicated people want to continuously build on our assets, are proud of what we offer and want to promote the city nationally.”

Current board members of the executive committee include: Jeff Sikes of Thompson Engineering–Vice Chair; Bob Doak, Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau–Treasurer, Ron Swafford, Juvenile Court–Secretary, Jim Kennedy, Kennedy, Coulter, & Rushing–Past Chair; and Scott Smith–President.
